New Fairfield Parks & Recreation’s Holiday Light Parade & Tree Lighting is from 1-4 p.m., along with New Fairfield Library's Santa’s Workshop and Gingerbread House.
Kids can visit with Santa and Mrs. Clause, and their elves, at the library, where books will be given away. The library will also host a visit from the "Gingerbread Man" in his house.
Bring cameras for pictures with Santa. Reserve a time up until 3:45 p.m. at 203-312-5633. Santa's workshop runs from 12:30-4 p.m.
A free HART Transit trolley ride will be offered in front of Town Hall, with stops around the town center and returning there from 12:30-4 p.m.
The day is Small Business Saturday, and at Sarah’s Gift N’ Ship, kids will have a choice of one free holiday craft to make. Kids should bring a wallet-size photo for the ornament. A free scavenger hunt is also offered in the store.
The Goodie Shoppe will offer children hot chocolate for $1.50.
The New Fairfield Food Center and Village Hardware Store invite kids to stop by and receive a special holiday treat at each of their locations.
Bruno’s Pizzeria will sell pizza slices for $1.
The Olde 37 Patio & Grill will give out free hot cider and a cookie.
Those 21 and older can taste wine and Champagne at Fairwood Wines & Liquors, Heritage Wine & Liquor and New Fairfield Liquor from 1-3 p.m.
Preserve New Fairfield will open the Hubble House Museum on Route 37, where pewter Christmas ornaments and other gifts will be available.
Refreshments will be offered from 1-3 p.m. at Fairfield Historical Society at the Little Red Schoolhouse.
The holiday light parade, from Saw Mill Road/Route 37, begins at 5:15 p.m. The route heads to the traffic light, then bears left and past Town Hall to Memorial Field.
Santa will arrive at the end of the parade to light the holiday tree at Memorial Field at 5:45 p.m.
The New Fairfield High School Chamber Ensemble will sing carols at the gazebo.
Free refreshments and treats will be served.
